How we picked
This guide is a set of gaming laptop reviews in the sense of a specification comparison. It draws 12 ASUS laptops from a pool of 14 that satisfy the group rule: ASUS laptops with a stated dedicated graphics card of 4GB or more and 16GB of RAM or more. The laptops are compared on the specifications stated in each listing and on live prices. Picks are ranked first by stated graphics memory, from most to least, then by stated RAM, then by screen refresh rate; ties are broken by the order in the pool. Two near-duplicate configurations with identical stated memory, storage, and refresh rate were left out so each pick differs in a stated spec.
How to choose
What the graphics card and its memory decide
The graphics card does the work of drawing a game, and the amount of graphics memory in a listing limits how large and detailed the scenes and textures it can hold. All 12 picks state a dedicated graphics card with at least 8GB of graphics memory; the top pick states 12GB. More graphics memory gives a player more room for detailed game assets, but this guide does not promise that any specific game will run at a given setting.
Refresh rate: what the screen can redraw
The refresh rate states how many times per second the screen can redraw. The top pick states 240Hz, two 16-inch picks state 165Hz, and the 18-inch TUF and ROG G18 entries state 144Hz. Competitive players often look for higher rates. The benefit only appears when the game itself delivers that many frames per second, so a high-refresh screen is a capability, not a promise about any title.
RAM when the game, voice chat, and a stream run together
RAM holds the game, launcher, browser, voice chat, and stream or capture software at the same time. In this shortlist, 3 picks state 64GB, 7 state 32GB, and 2 state 16GB. Players who run several programs while playing should look toward the 32GB and 64GB entries.
Screen size and weight when the laptop travels
A larger screen shows more of the game. The 18-inch picks weigh 2.6 to 3.2kg, while the 16-inch ASUS TUF Gaming A16 weighs 2.2kg. A lighter laptop is easier to carry to a friend's place or between rooms. One 16-inch TUF listing does not state its weight, so that pick is a harder call for travel.
Operating system and storage
Most of the TUF 18 entries state Windows 11 or Windows 11 Pro; the ROG Strix G18 G815 states Windows 11 Pro, while the top ROG Strix G18 leaves the operating system not stated by the seller. Storage ranges from 1TB to 2TB across the shortlist. More storage means more room for a game library; it is not a speed claim.
What this guide leaves out and why
The catalogue used here has no data on frame rates, fan noise, thermals, battery life, display quality, keyboard feel, or speakers. This guide therefore compares the ASUS laptops on the specifications each seller states and on live prices, and it does not guess at the missing details.
Questions
Does this guide cover frame rates, fan noise, or battery life?
No. The catalogue used for this guide has no data on frame rates, fan noise, thermals, battery life, display quality, keyboard feel, or speakers. The guide compares ASUS laptops on the specifications each seller states and on live prices. Anyone who needs those details will have to look at the seller listing or maker materials.
How much graphics memory should a gaming laptop have?
The amount of graphics memory limits how large and detailed the scenes and textures a graphics card can hold. In this list the top pick states 12GB, and every other pick states 8GB. A player who wants maximum headroom for detailed game assets should start with the 12GB pick. This guide does not promise how any game will run.
What does the refresh rate number mean?
Refresh rate is how many times per second the screen can redraw. Higher numbers, such as 240Hz on the top pick, are what competitive players look for, but the laptop only benefits when the game itself delivers that many frames per second. No listing in this guide promises a specific frame rate for a specific game.
Should I choose 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of RAM?
RAM holds the game and everything running around it. For a player who opens a launcher, browser, voice chat, and stream or capture software along with the game, 32GB or 64GB gives more room. This shortlist has 7 picks with 32GB and 3 with 64GB; 16GB is the lowest option here.
Why do some listings not state the operating system or weight?
The catalogue is built from seller listings, and not every listing includes every specification. In those cases the guide writes not stated by the seller rather than guessing. This applies to the operating system on the top ROG Strix G18 and to the absent weight field on one 16-inch TUF listing.
