Side by side

How we picked

The pool for this guide holds 12 laptops that each state a graphics card with 16GB or more of graphics memory and 16GB or more of RAM. The 34 listings that originally matched the filter were folded into this shortlist so near-duplicate configurations appear once. Each pick is compared on the specifications stated in its listing and on its live price; the site does not measure or run the laptops. Picks are ordered from most to least stated graphics memory, then by stated RAM, then by screen refresh rate, with ties in the order of the pool file. The guide makes no claims about frame rates, battery life, fan noise or build quality, because the catalogue does not provide that data.

How to choose

What the graphics card and its memory decide

The graphics card draws the game, and the amount of graphics memory limits how large and detailed the textures and scenes it can hold. In this shortlist, 4 of the 12 picks state 24GB of graphics memory and the rest state 16GB. More graphics memory does not by itself say how many frames per second a game will produce, but it gives a game more room for detailed assets. The guide orders the picks by stated graphics memory before anything else.

Refresh rate: what the screen can redraw

Refresh rate is how many times per second the screen can redraw. One laptop here states 300Hz, eight list 240Hz and three state 120Hz. A higher refresh rate is the spec that competitive players look for, and it only helps when the game itself supplies enough frames per second to reach that rate. This guide uses refresh rate as the third ordering rule after graphics memory and RAM.

RAM when the game, voice chat and a stream run together

RAM holds the game, the launcher, a browser, voice chat and a stream or capture program when they are open at the same time. This list has 2 laptops with 128GB, 6 with 64GB and 4 with 32GB. The 32GB entries are the lower tier here, while 64GB gives more room for multitasking. The guide does not state how much RAM any game requires.

Screen size and weight when the laptop travels

A larger screen shows more of the game; a lighter laptop is easier to carry to a LAN event or between rooms. Most picks have a 16-inch screen, one has a 17.3-inch screen and two have 18-inch screens. Stated weights run from 2.54kg to 3.6kg, with several entries not stating a weight at all.

Storage for the game library

Storage sets the size of the game library a laptop can hold. The picks state capacities from 1TB to 4TB, with 1TB the smallest in this shortlist and 4TB the largest. A larger drive gives more room for installed games, captures and other files; no game size is stated here.

What this guide leaves out (and why)

The catalogue used for this guide contains no data on frame rates, fan noise, battery life, build quality, thermals or keyboard feel. None of those topics appear as measured results here. The laptops are compared on the specifications stated in each listing and on live prices, and the site does not guess at performance.

Questions

Why do these laptops have different graphics cards even though they all have 16GB or more of graphics memory?

This guide filters by stated graphics memory, not by a single card model. The shortlist includes GeForce RTX 5080, RTX 5090, RTX 4090, RTX PRO 4000 and RTX PRO 5000 listings. More graphics memory gives games more room for large textures and detailed scenes, while the card series itself is part of each listing. The guide does not rank one card's speed against another.

Does this guide cover frame rates, fan noise or battery life?

No. The catalogue for this guide has no data on frame rates, fan noise, battery life, thermals, build quality or keyboard feel, and the site does not guess at those figures. The laptops are compared on the specifications stated in each listing and on live prices only.

How much RAM do I need for gaming and streaming at the same time?

RAM holds the game, the launcher, a browser, voice chat and a stream or capture program when they are open together. This shortlist includes 32GB, 64GB and 128GB options. The 64GB entries give more room for multitasking than the 32GB entries, but the guide does not state how much RAM any game requires.

What does a higher refresh rate actually do?

Refresh rate is how many times per second the screen can redraw. One pick states 300Hz, eight state 240Hz and three state 120Hz. A higher refresh rate is the display spec that competitive players look for, but it only helps when the game itself supplies enough frames per second to reach that rate. This guide does not report measured frame rates for any game.

Can a 16-inch laptop be carried easily to a LAN event?

A 16-inch screen is a common balance between screen space and portability. The stated weights for the 16-inch picks here range from about 2.54kg to 2.83kg, while the 18-inch models are heavier at 3.49kg and 3.6kg. Several entries do not state a weight, so that spec is not available for every pick.
